Mirror and the Muse
In the context of the series “Forking Paths” which speaks about the relationships between Author and his/her Muse, this photo is showing a key step of this mutual interaction.
As the identity of the Author and the Muse is interchangeable, the Mirror shows the Author on one side and the Muse on the other side, their encounter limited at the surface of the mirror. The creative process is an auto-portrait as the Author is examining himself to find Inspiration.
The photo is also inspired the myth of Narcissus, who felt in love with his own-reflection and died of frustration, because he could not seized it. Art can lead to the fatal issue outlined by this myth.
